the first fig traditional chinese medicine clinic opened in Castlemaine, Victoria, in 2011. due to high local demand and the geographical location of Monash IVF Bendigo, we moved to Bendigo CBD in december 2014. We are currently looking to open in Hobart in February 2020.
primarily focused on women's health, 'fig' stands for fertility, ivf support and gynecology. through the use of acupuncture, cupping, massage, dietary advice and Chinese herbal medicine we treat a range of health issues, or 'disharmonies', including: infertility, pre-conception, IVF support, menopause, perimenopause, irregular menstruation, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis as well as general health such as: digestive problems, gut dysbiosis, IBS, back pain, insomnia, post natal depression, exhaustion, adrenal fatigue, hormonal imbalances such as estrogen dominance, thyroid disorders. our aim is to improve patient health by correcting imbalances through various techniques and to educate patients on the TCM approach to health and wellbeing so that they can manage their own health to some extent. we promote a greater awareness of the impact of diet and lifestyle on health, and we direct and support patients to make changes in these areas as required.
a sustainable approach consideration has been given to sustainability and the use of natural materials in the clinic. we use unbleached calico sheets to cover the treatment table for each new patient, and we use silk instead of towels to cover patients while they are relaxing. silk is light and warm and 'floats' over the needles. both materials offer a sustainable solution when it comes to laundering, ensuring low water usage. they are quickly dried naturally on the Hill's hoist. natural drying exposes the fabrics to uv light which further sterilizes them. this approach dramatically reduces washing loads, water usage, and drying time when compared to using towels.
