*Healthcare packages for pre-conception, IVF or ART support , pregnancy support Healthcare packages are available for pre-conception, IVF support, ART support and pregnancy support. These are upfront payments, and are available to each patient based on their initial assessment. They are designed to make the overall care more affordable. Costs may include herbal formulas and supplements, prescribed at different stages of treatment. This will be discussed at initial consultation. Below are examples of typical treatment plans.
herbs and supplements: at fig traditional chinese medicine we source and use only ethically and sustainably produced herbs and supplements. we use predominantly KPC herbs, in our herbal formulas due to their extensive quality control at each stage of the manufacturing process, which includes testing for heavy metals and pesticides. Other supplements are organic where possible.
treatment plan for preconception and ivf support: 12 - 24 treatments (1 or 2 per week depending on the patient, the stage of their menstrual cycle and the timeline). we prefer to see male and female preconception patients for at least three months, as weekly acupuncture, coupled with herbal medicine can greatly improve the health of the parents, and therefore the quality of the eggs and the uterine lining in the mother, and the number, morphology and motility of the sperm. at some stages of the cycle we would like to see you more frequently than others, but generally around 4-6 treatments a month.
ivf support patients are also advised to seek preconception treatments in the three months prior to commencing ivf treatment, for the same reasons. however, during the IVF cycle we prefer to treat patients with acupuncture alone, as acupuncture is a non-pharmaceutical intervention that will not impact on IVF drugs, but can assist with managing the side effects often associated with these drugs. Pre and Post transfer treatments are recommended on the day of transfer, with weekly acupuncture post transfer to consolidate the pregnancy during the first trimester.
if you are undergoing ivf already, we can still greatly assist with acupuncture. we don't prescribe herbs once patients are on ivf drugs. acupuncture can benefit the flow of qi and blood to the uterus and ovaries assisting development of the uterine lining and the follicles. it can also be of great benefit in reducing the side-effects of ivf drugs.
treatment plan for pregnancy support: may involve 12 - 20 treatments from early first trimester, through to preparation for labour and labour induction. generally speaking most patients feel they need support through the first trimester and then again towards the end of the third trimester in the lead up to birth.
weeks 1-12: weekly appointments during the first trimester, particularly if there are any concerns around miscarriage and to treat morning sickness.
weeks 12-32: monthly appointments until week 32. If there are problems along the way like fluid retention, sciatica, etc. you may want extra treatments.
weeks 32-36: weekly during this phase. By 37 weeks they are usually in the head down position ready to engage or 'drop' into the birth canal. * If the baby is in a breech position, we can use moxibustion to turn the baby and hopefully avoid a C-section. This is best done around weeks 34-36, before the baby gets too big and there is little room to move. although babies can turn at the last minute but are generally in position by 37 weeks.
weeks 37- birth: weekly treatments to prepare you for labor. these include increasing blood flow to the reproductive organs, pelvis and hips in preparation for the workout that comes with birth. acupuncture can assist with cervical ripening so that the cervix is softer and more able to dilate during labour. If need be, we can induce labour with acupuncture too. good preparation may reduce the labour time and prevent the need for an episiotomy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
cancellation policy: we charge a booking fee of $50 to your credit card in order to lock in an appointment time, which is then deducted from your consultation fee when you come in for that appointment. this fee will be retained however if there is a late cancellation, or a late change to your appointment (less than 24 hours).
